Chinese actress Zhang Ziyi denied yesterday media reports that she had allegedly “interacted” with Bo Xilai, the former Communist Party boss of China's Chongqing City in exchange for “huge” monetary gifts.


Zhang Ziyi , who is currently shooting a new film in southern China, said on her personal microblog that many people “can take wind as rain” using their imaginations.

The disgraced top Chinese official Bo Xilai is now being accused of paying actress Zhang Ziyi to have sex with him on a dozen occasions over the last five years. Anti-Beijing website Boxun on Monday quoted sources as saying that Zhang Ziyi  is being investigated by Chinese authorities and has been barred from leaving the country.


According to Boxun, the two met in 2007 through Xu Ming, the founder and chairman of Dalian Shide Group and purported financier of the disgraced official. Xu paid 6 million yuan (around W1.1 billion) a night to have sex with Zhang Ziyi  and had her entertain Bo as well for 10 million yuan. Zhang Ziyi  had sex with Bo on more than 10 occasions and Xu paid the actress for the favors, according to Boxun.

Zhang and Bo met in secret locations including Xu's private resort in Beijing. Zhang Ziyi  also allegedly slept with two other high-ranking Chinese government officials after being introduced to them through Xu. Boxun said their identities would be revealed later.

Citing a report that Boxun says was compiled by Chinese investigators, the website said the actress has five to six rich boyfriends and reportedly earned 700 million yuan over the last decade through prostitution, including 180 million yuan from Xu.

Earlier Boxun said Xu had spent the night with Zhang Ziyi  aboard his yacht in Hong Kong before he was arrested by Chinese authorities. He was in Hong Kong on a stopover on his private jet from Singapore to Beijing. Zhang Ziyi  allegedly called Xu the day before his arrest in mid-March begging him to marry her.

But Zhang Ziyi  on her social networking site on Tuesday morning denied the allegation. Zhang Ziyi , who hails from Beijing, is one of China’s top actresses and made her film debut in the 1999 movie "The Road Home" by Zhang Yimou. She has since appeared in numerous films and came to wider international attention with "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon."

Zhang Ziyi is reportedly under investigation by the Chinese government and barred from leaving the country.

The media reports said that Zhang Ziyi  and Bo were first introduced by Bo's associate, Xu Ming, 41, who is the founder and chairman of Dalian Shide Group when Bo was party boss in Dalian City.

Unconfirmed reports said that Xu confessed to paying Zhang Ziyi  6 million Chinese yuan in 2007 to personally have sex with her for the first time.

Xu later negotiated a deal for Bo to have sex with Zhang Ziyi for 10 million yuan.

The Chinese media reports estimated thatZhang Ziyi 's sexual transactions with various rich and powerful figures have netted her 700 million yuan over the last 10 years, including 180 million yuan in cash from Xu alone.

Hong Kong's Apple daily and other Chinese media reported that the pair was first introduced by Bo's associate, Xu Ming, 41, who is the founder and chairman of Dalian Shide Group.

Sources say Xu confessed to paying Zhang Ziyi  6 million yuan (S$1.2 million) in 2007, to have sex with her for the first time.

He later negotiated a deal for Bo to have sex with Zhang Ziyi , for 10 million yuan (S$2 million).

Reports say the 33-year-old actress slept with Bo at least 10 times between 2007 and 2011 in Beijing.

The Chinese media also estimated that Zhang Ziyi 's sexual transactions with various rich and powerful figures have netted her 700 million yuan over the last 10 years. This includes 180 million yuan in cash from Xu.

Zhang Ziyi claimed she was busy shooting the film, "The Grandmasters", and was unable to attend the festival.

According to Hong Kong and Taiwanese media reports, the actress has remained uncontactable for comment on the allegations.

Zhang Ziyi  was previously embroiled in other scandals.

In 2010, she was accused of exaggerating the funds raised for the Sichuan earthquake. Instead of the US$1million (S$1.34million) announced in 2008, the star only managed to raise US$400,000.

In 2009, Zhang Ziyi  was accused of cheating a married businessman of S$41.2 million, with whom she was alleged to be sexually involved with, while still engaged to Israeli billionaire Vivi Nevo.

Nevo and Zhang Ziyi  reportedly split up in 2010.


Zhang Ziyi 's team also thanked supporters and said no matter what libel may occur, Zhang Ziyi never forgets that she is a professional. "We just want to help her get rid of this disturbance and seek justice. Then she will be able to shoot her films in peace and quiet and present you, her fans, with more and better films in return."
